queen of faff

Former secret writer. This is my rehab.

I’m sitting here with pen in hand,

but hesitant to write.

The censorship’s inside my head

No editors in sight.

I often think in prose and rhyme

but rarely write them ‘out’.

My head is full, instead, with words

My pages, empty with my doubt.

  1. Hi
    that’s kids for you
it will get better but you might have to wait till they move out! 😉

  2. Sounds like me but with pictures (drawings, paintings, creations)….i have them going through my head all the time buy so rarely get them ‘out’. Need to find a way! Xx

  3. I’m not sure how I followed you on Twitter. It must have been a link via JRF. (I used to volunteer at the Folk Hall in York).
Your writing seems really great to me, if you don’t mind me saying so. Just keep bashing away and get it out there! A good friend of mine has just published her first work on Amazon (today) after years of being “nudged”by her family and friends.
I’ve just finished writing my first book after 30 years of thinking about it!! It’s not great, but at least I have something to show people now, before I spend 6 months editing it and a year of being turned down by publishers.
    Good luck.

    • That’s so kind of you to say so and the encouragement is much appreciated (and needed!). Thanks for taking the time to get in touch and congratulations on your first book!

      • You are welcome. We all need a support team when struggling with getting the blank sheets filled in with ink! I’ve been thinking of setting up a readers/writers group in York for a while. I need good critical feedback on my writing now before I write the next drafts.
Maybe I will put out a Facebook page to see if anyone is interested. That sometimes works.

I look forward to reading more of your work. I know what it’s like with kids. I was sole carer for my two for 7 years whilst my partner pursued her career. I found it fun a lot of the time but I didn’t get too much writing done. I channeled most of my creativity into photography & painting. At least the kids could splash paint with me & I taught them how to take selfies!! (In hindsight, not something I’m convinced was a grown up thing to do!)
